In-service training for ministers of the gospel
The Pastors’ Forum is an in-service training scheme developed for serving pastors in response to a perceived need to provide a formal structure for learning, within which pastors can develop and refine their understanding of the Scriptures and of theology and so improve their effectiveness in ministry.
Due to the numerous demands on the pastor's time it is often the case that continued learning which is unrelated to sermon preparation, is relegated in the pastor’s list of priorities. The formal structure offered by the Pastor's Forum provides the encouragement needed to keep alive those academic studies necessary to maintain effectiveness.
The need of the pastor to continue to develop his theology and his hermeneutic is evident. Presently churches serve the Lord in a world in which false teachings and new philosophical ideas multiply and spread ever more quickly. Consequently pastors need to be rigorous in trying to understand the dangers faced by congregations from both within and without the Church.
The Pastors’ Forum has been developed to provide instruction from noted theologians and other qualified men, and an opportunity for discussion and debate that will equip pastors to be more effective in ministry; whilst recognising that the Scriptures teach that the building of the Church belongs to the sovereign Lord and that the Church must look to him alone to meet her needs.
